Iowa hosts Minnesota in B1G baseball series beginning Friday

The Iowa baseball team looks to dig out of an early hole in Big Ten on Friday when the Hawkeyes open a three game series against Minnesota in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are 3-6 in the Big Ten after getting swept at home by top ranked UCLA before bouncing back with a Tuesday afternoon 21-8 non-conference win at Bradley.

That’s Iowa coach rick Heller. The Gophers are 2-7 in the league race and Heller says both teams need a good weekend.

Iowa has yet to win a series opener in Big Ten play and Minnesota junior right-hander Cole Selvig will provide another Friday challenge.

Selvig enters with a record of 3-1 and has struck out 34 batters in just over 34 innings of work.
