The first Iowa Girl’s Union softball poll is out as the season gets underway. Radio Iowa’s Dar Danielson reports.
(As said) Defending 5-A champion Waukee Northwest is top ranked, followed by Ankeny Centennial, West Des Moines Valley, Southeast Polk and Pleasant Valley. A-D-M is top ranked in class 4-A followed by Carlisle, runner up North Scott, Western Dubuque and Clear Creek Amana. Class 3-A defending champion Williamsburg starts out number one, with runner up Dubuque Wahlert second ranked, Albia third, P-C-M fourth and last year’s 2-A champ Van Meter fifth. Louisa-Muscatine starts 2-A ranked at the top, followed by Durant, West Lyon, Wapsie Valley and Jesup. Clarksville opens defense of last year’s title as the top team in 1-A. Mason City Newman, Exira-EHK/Audubon, Edgewood-Colesburg and Highland round out the top five.
