Iowa defensive back Zach Lutmer is taking on more of a leadership role for a Hawkeye defense that lost eight starters from a year ago. Lutmer started all 13 games last season in being named second team All Big Ten as a sophomore. One of the losses from last season was safety Koen (koh-in) Entringer, who transferred to Louisville.
Lutmer says spring drills are even more important with several new faces in the secondary.
Lutmer was primarily at the cash position last season, a hybrid linebacker/safety spot on the defense. He is working at several different spots in the secondary during spring drills.
