Iowa basketball coach Ben McCollum says player retention was a key as the Hawkeyes are building for next season. Ten players return from a team that finished 24-13 and made a run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
Among the four newcomers are two freshmen, six-seven Jaidyn Coon from Storm Lake and six-nine Ethan Harris, who hails from the state of Washington. How much the freshmen will help next season is still to be determined.

The Hawkeyes also added St. Mary’s center Andrew McKeever and Illinois State guard Ty’Reek Coleman via the transfer portal. Summer workouts begin next month.
