The stretch run begins for the Iowa Hawkeye baseball team as they get set to open a three game Big Ten series at 25th ranked Nebraska Friday night. The Hawkeyes are 12-12 in the Big Ten. Nebraska is tied for second in the league race at 17-7 and the Huskers are 34-14 overall.
That’s Iowa coach Rick Heller. The Huskers ranked second in the Big Ten in hitting and third in pitching.
The Hawkeyes face a difficult chore in the opener. Hard throwing Husker right-hander Caron Jasa is 8-2.
The Hawkeyes are currently eighth in the Big Ten and will close the regular season by hosting fifth place Purdue next week in a three game series at Principal Park in Des Moines.
