Drake Relays director Blake Boldon says the event is becoming more important to college track programs in the Midwest during a time of financial change. In this new era of NIL and revenue sharing travel budgets at power four schools have tightened for sports like track and field.
Boldon says the Drake Relays remain one of the most attractive meets to compete at each season because of the crowds and exposure.
Boldon says college teams still enjoy competing in events like the sprint medley relay that are not contested at the NCAA Championships.
The Drake Relays are April 22nd through the 25th.
