The Audubon Wheelers Boys Track and Field squad believes they have what it takes to have a successful season. In 2025, shot putter Lance Meyer, the 4×110 shuttle hurdle and the 1600m sprint medley relay teams competed at state. As a team, Audubon placed 56th overall. This year’s 1600m relay team will be without two seniors from the 2025 season, however they were led by Aiden Kjergaard, who returns as a sophomore. Head Coach Tony Konkler believes if they can find a way to fill in the gaps, they will be competitive in the long-distance events again.
Jorgen Nowatzke, who was a key part the 2026 Wheelers playoff basketball run, is expected to make a jump in the track world as well. Coach Konkler says the sophomore can trim down his 400m time of 54.79 from last season:
Audubon won’t be a huge team this year, but Coach Konkler thinks they can still find success in the mid-distance relay events:
Brody Schultes is the only senior of the group, but his leadership and work ethic has a positive effect on everyone. He has state meet experience and is a great example for the younger runners on the team.
This 2026 Audubon squad has set a high standard for themselves this season, and Coach Konkler encourages them to keep setting higher goals to reach:
The Audubon Boys Track and Field Season begins at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center on March 13th for the 2026 IATC Boys Indoor Championships.
