The Audubon Wheelers Boys track and field team had a successful state qualifying meet, sending five events including three relays and two individual events with Brody Schultes in the 400m Hurdles and Lane Meyer returning in the shot put. Audubon was one of the schools who didn’t have an automatic qualifier, so Head Coach Tony Konkler had to wait one more day to see which of the events made the cut.
Brody Schultes will also be running in all three of the relays that qualified along with his individual event. He is someone that Coach Konkler says sets a great example for his teammates:
Lane Meyer is returning to state in the shot put and put some loftily goals on himself heading into this season:
Even though the Wheelers are sending three relays, Coach Konkler wasn’t sure until the district meet that the Distance, 800 Medley and 4x200m teams were going to be the ones that they would focus on for state qualifying:
The Audubon boys take the stage in their respective events at the State Meet which begins Thursday, May 21 and runs through Saturday, May 23rd at the Drake Stadium track in Des Moines.
