The Atlantic Trojans Softball team is continuing their recent years of success with a great start to the 2026 season. As of the most recent IGHSAU Softball Poll, the Trojans are ranked #12 in all of Class 3A and currently hold an undefeated record of 8-0. For Head Coach Terry Hinzmann, he credits the early success of his team to many different factors:
After the first two games of the season, Coach Hinzmann wanted to see more plate discipline from the offense. Since then, the team has averaged over seven runs per game.
Seniors Lila Wiederstein and Zoey Kirchoff have been leading the offense in many categories so far this season and have been great examples for some of the younger girls on the team:
Coming up, the Trojans have some tough games on their schedule that include #4 Exira/EHK-Audubon and current conference leader Lewis Central. Coach Hinzmann wants his team to be tested throughout the regular season.
The Trojans face Exira/EHK Audubon at 9am and Riverside at 11am on Saturday, June 6th.
