Atlantic Keeps up Their Winning Streak Improving to 5-2

The Atlantic Trojans took care of business on Friday night, defeating Greene County 36-13. Senior running back Ethan McNeal had a dominant rushing attack with 200 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns, while sophomore quarterback James Brauer threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Jaxon Hepler, and the Trojans kicker added a 23-yard field goal as Atlantic surged out to a 23-0 lead by halftime.

Atlantic established physical control at the line of scrimmage early and held Greene County scoreless through the first three quarters of action. Over 300 total yards on the ground highlighted a relentless offensive effort that blew the game wide open before the break.

On the defensive side of the ball, tackling was the name of the game all night for the Trojans. Senior defender Carter Hadley anchored a fierce unit, recording 10.0 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and a sack to continually halt Greene County’s offensive drives. Atlantic pulled away in the fourth quarter with 13 additional points to make it 36-0 before Greene County broke through late in the fourth to hold the final score at 36-13. Head Coach Joe Brummer is happy with how the Trojans preformed.

Not only did McNeal and Jake Wailes do their part on the rushing side of things but Sophmore Benton Mclaren did as well.

With the win over the Rams, Coach Brummer looks forward to next week’s game against Harlan.

With the victory, the Trojans now sits at 5-2 on the season, continuing their strong momentum in district play.
