Atlantic Falls to Harlan in Week 8

The Trojans fell to 5-3 on Friday night to Harlan by a score of 42-21. A combination of turnovers and a lack of offensive production created a difficult task for the Trojans on Friday night. Harlan got out to a quick 14-0 start after a trick play to TE Colton Schneider and a touchdown from Brody Bendorf. Atlantic did cut the lead in half on a 35-yard punt return touchdown by Zander Killion. Killion also returned a kick for a touchdown in the 4th quarter for the final score of the game.

Unfortunately, two interceptions on key drives kept Atlantic from getting anything going offensively, and the passing game of Harlan proved too much for the young Trojans defensive backfield. Cyclones QB Kreed Boggess passed for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns including a 54 yarder to Colton Scheider that made the game 21-7 following Killion’s punt return. Senior WR Landon Nihsen hauled in multiple huge first down catches to seal the game for the cyclones late. He also caught a touchdown in the second half along the Harlan sideline.

The Trojans forced one turnover on an endzone interception by Landon Hagen to end the first half. Atlantic mustered one offensive touchdown all game on a 47-yard touchdown to Zander Killion who was responsible for all three Trojans touchdowns.

The Trojans drop to 3-1 in the district and face a must win game next week as they host Carroll. Harlan moves to #2 in the district and can clinch a playoff spot with a victory at Greene County next week.
