The Drake Relays will showcase five Atlantic Trojans Boys this year. Ethan McNeal will be running the 100m, along with being on the 4x100m relay team that also includes Dominic Elings, Colin Rudy and Zander Killion. Gavin McLaren will represent the throwing team in the shot put. This is Ethan McNeal’s second straight year qualifying for the Drake Relays. Head Coach Abby Becker sees that experience as a positive as Ethan heads back to Drake.
Even though the 4×100 team has already qualified, Coach Becker still wants to stress the fundamentals and little things before such a big event.
The pressure of racing on such a big stage can certainly become a factor, but Coach Becker thinks that these boys are ready for the moment.
Gavin McLaren’s 55-09 shot put throw qualified him for the Drake Relays for the first time. This has been something he has worked for his entire high school career.
The Atlantic Boys will head to the Drake Relays this week when the high school events take place on Friday, April 24th.
