The AHSTW Vikings shut out the Audubon Wheelers 6-0 to advance in the 1A Substate 8 tournament. The Vikings scored five runs in the first two innings to take an early 5-0 lead. Cash Freeman and Chase Wheatley each had RBI doubles as the Vikings took advantage of free passes. However, Dawson Miller found his rhythm and blanked the Vikings over the final three innings. Unfortunately for the Wheelers, AHSTW pitcher Camdyn Dressen was on his game. Throwing six innings, he allowed just two hits and struck out 8, stranding 6 Wheelers as the Vikings put up a combined shut out to advance.
Head coach Trey Brix was impressed with his starting pitcher and his stuff.
On offense it was the senior leaders who came through in the biggest moments.
Although Brix will take the win, he still wants to see a little bit more from his group.
AHSTW will play CAM in the second round of the district tournament on Tuesday in Anita. For the Wheelers their season comes to an end with a record of 5-16.
