40th Summer Iowa Games begin this week

The 40th edition of the Summer Iowa Games begins Saturday with the track and field competition. For the first time, the event will be held in Drake Stadium.

That’s Iowa Games spokesman Cory Kennedy, who says track and field was moved to June in hopes of having enough staff to run the meet.

There is still time to register for track and field. The deadline is the end of business on Saturday.

Kennedy expects to meet to draw nearly 700 athletes.
