A quest for a state championship for Roland-Story starts Tuesday afternoon as the 2nd-seeded Norsemen face off with the 7th-seeded Durant Wildcats. The Norsemen allowed just 4 total runs in their 3 substate games in route to their first state appearance since 2015, Roland-Story head coach Chris Hill says that having respect for the opposition has been key in guiding the Norsemen to Carroll.
Roland-Story leads Class 2A in RBI, stolen bases and runs scored, but will face a stiff test from Durant, led by senior Colby Gast. Gast leads the Wildcats with 6 home runs and a 1.07 ERA. Hill feels his team has prepared well for the Wildcats southpaw.
The winner of the contest advances to face the winner of West Lyon and Unity Christian in the 2A semifinals on Thursday night.
