VERNON EDWIN COLE, 68, of Defiance, died Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Funeral services for VERNON COLE will be held 11-a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.
Visitation at the funeral home is on Thursday (7/30), from 10- until 11 a.m.
Interment with Military Rites is in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter.

His wife – Tracey Cole, of Defiance.
His sons – Gary (Allison) Aikman, and Tyler Cole, all of Defiance; Matthew Cole (& Abby Leggett), of Council Bluffs, and Tracy (Machella) Cole, of Kellogg (IA).
His daughters – Becs (Kaden) McLaws, of Seviersville, TN, and Jessica (Andrew) Kishiyama, of Shelton, WA.
His brothers – Mike (Nora) Cole, of Des Moines; Kenny (Christine) Cole, of Moses Lake, WA, and John (Kelly) Cole, of Boise, ID.
and 8 grandchildren.
