Burial is in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

His sons – Christopher Byars, and Matthew Byars, both of Des Moines.
His daughters – Stephanie (Josh) Peterson, of West Des Moines, and Marissa Van Elsen, of St. Louis Park, MN.
His brother – Mike (Connie) Byars, of Lake Mills (IA).
