(Radio Iowa) – U-S Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy stopped at the Des Moines airport Thursday and toured the new terminal that’s set to open in January. Duffy also touted federal funding for upgrades in the airport’s air traffic control systems.
New radar systems and other improvements are being financed with 26 MILLION dollars that came from the One Big Beautiful Bill President Trump signed last July. “This is an important part of the country, not just this airport, but if you look at the products that come in that actually leave Iowa and come through Iowa, the arteries of transportation, really it’s a crossroads here in your state,” Duffy said.
Congressman Zach Nunn, a Republican from Ankeny, accompanied Duffy on his visit to the airport.
