(Updated w/names) – 2 teens & an 11-year-old injured in an eastern IA crash May 6th

FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa – The Iowa State Patrol today (Sunday) released the names of two teenagers and an 11-year-old who were injured during a crash Wednesday afternoon (May 6th), east of Oelwein.

Authorities say the injured were identified as: (the driver of the vehicle) 16-year-old Landon Jaxson Graber, of Stanley (IA); and his passengers, 11-year-old Karson Alan Graber, of Stanley, as well as 16-year-old Edward James Kieffert, of Oelwein.

The accident happened in the area of Highway 3 and I Avenue around 2:30 p.m., Wednesday. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Landon Graber was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion and was attempting to turn left (North) onto I Avenue from Highway 3, in front of a westbound pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Michael Reed Lockie, of New Hampton, when the car was struck by the pickup.

The Patrol says Landon Graber “Was using an electronic communication device at the time of the accident.” It did not offer any further clarification.

All three occupants of the car were taken to the hospital in Oelwein for treatment of their injuries. A report on their conditions was not released.
