Suspect arrested in Council Bluffs shooting

(Council Bluffs, IA) – A 40-year-old male is in custody following a shooting investigation Monday afternoon, in Council Bluffs. The suspect’s name was not immediately released. According to the Council Bluffs Police Department, officers were dispatched to the University of Nebraska Medical Center regarding a female victim who had walked into the emergency room at around 3:20 p.m., suffering from a gunshot wound.

The unidentified victim reported she was driving on Interstate 80 westbound, near South 24th Street, when she noticed her ex-boyfriend driving next to her. During this time, the victim stated several gunshots were fired, two of which struck her cell phone and one in her shoulder. She then drove to a friend’s house, who in turn drove her to the Med Center. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
