(Stuart, IA) – Officials with the Stuart Police Department posted on their social media page this (Thursday) morning, that at around 7:40-p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026, officers with the Stuart Police Department responded to a report of an unconscious male inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Maverik gas station located in the 600 block of S. Division Street in Stuart. Upon arrival, officers located the male and determined he was deceased.
The deceased was identified as a 71-year-old male from Winterset. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family members. There is no indication of foul play at this time. The deceased was transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for further examination.
At this time, the death appears to be consistent with natural causes. No additional information is being released at this time
