(Stuart, IA) – Officials with the Stuart Police Department said on social media, recently, that they are proud to recognize Officer Daniel Irving and K9 “Ally,” for their role in a case that recently resulted in a federal prison sentence of more than 14 years.
As we have reported, on August 25, 2025, the Stuart Police Department was requested to assist the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop in Redfield. Officer Irving responded with K9 Ally and deployed her to conduct a narcotics sniff of the vehicle. Ally provided a positive indication to the presence of narcotics, establishing probable cause for a search of the vehicle. During the subsequent search, law enforcement located approximately 46 grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials consistent with narcotics distribution, drug paraphernalia, a handgun, and ammunition.
The driver, Gideon Lee Corbett, was arrested and the investigation ultimately resulted in federal prosecution. On July 16, 2026, Corbett was sentenced to 173 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. He will also serve four years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
Stuart Police said they “…are extremely proud of Officer Irving and K9 Ally and the important role they played in getting dangerous drugs and a firearm off the streets. Cases like this also demonstrate the value of cooperation between agencies and the capabilities a K9 team brings not only to Stuart, but to our law enforcement partners throughout the area.” They congratulated also, “The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and everyone involved in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.”
Officials said that “…an extra treat may be in order for ‘Ally.'”
