State agency investigating Monday afternoon’s 911 outage

(Radio Iowa) – State officials are conducting an investigation into what caused a disruption in 9-1-1 service late Monday afternoon. 911 outages were reported in Iowa, Texas, Arizona and Washington state.

An Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management spokesperson says the agency was notified that the problem started around 4:15 Monday afternoon and service was restored shortly before 6 p.m.

The agency has not determined the full scope of the outage. Initial findings indicate the issue centered around improper routing of 9-1-1 calls from cell phones.
