Senator Ernst says President should stay the course on Iran

(Radio Iowa) – Iowa Senator Joni Ernst says President Donald Trump should stay the course, and continue to pressure Iran to end the ongoing conflict. Ernst, a Republican from Red Oak, says the Trump Administration has been consistent in seeking diplomatic solutions to the conflict, but says Iran’s military arm is holding up peace talks.

Critics say the president lacks an exit strategy, but Ernst says any agreement should include prohibiting Iran from possessing enriched uranium to build a nuclear device, and Iran should stop funding proxy terrorist groups around the world.

Ernst also calls for eliminating Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities.

Ernst says she also wants more transparency from U-S Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on any possible exit strategy from the administration. She says the secretary is truly the one that needs to be briefing the President on an exit strategy, and how we are going to meet those goals. Ernst says she knows a number of a lawmakers who would like to hear more about that exit strategy from the Department.
