Sand Open to Retaining Some State Agency Directors Picked by Governor Reynolds he’ll Meet with Nearly all State Agency Directors During Transition

Governor-elect Rob Sand says he’d like to meet with 14 or the 16 state agency directors as he considers who might fit in his administration in January.

During taping of “Iowa Press” on Iowa P-B-S this (Friday) morning, Sand indicated there are two agency directors who’ve worked for Governor Kim Reynolds who will not be invited to work in his administration. One is the director of the Iowa Department of Education. Sand cites her decision to dramatically increase payments to the private company that’s managing Iowa’s Education Savings Account program. Sand also will bring in his own budget director. Sand and the director of the Iowa Department of Management have clashed over Sand’s work as state auditor. Sand is the first Democrat to win a governor’s race in Iowa in 20 years. He will take office January 15th.
