Sac County hopes the third-time is the charm in getting a new jail

(Sac City, IA) – Officials in Sac County haven’t given up hope in getting a bond measure for a new jail approved by the voters. Twice before, voters in the County have rejected two-million dollar bond measures to construct a new jail. The current jail is the oldest in the State.

According to Sheriff Katie Stange, they’ve been reviewing plans, proposals and blueprints with architects, and narrowing down what they need, as opposed to what the would like to see included in a new jail.

Sheriff Stange says the new plans look much different than previous approaches, and will cut the size of the bond asking by nearly one-half. The plans should be available to the public sometime next month.
