Rollover accident reported in Guthrie County

(Guthrie Center, IA) – The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office says no injuries were reported after an SUV rolled into a ditch Tuesday night. According to the accident report, 39-year-old Keri Theresa Charles, of Coon Rapids, was traveling west on 150th Street near Chestnut Road, at around 8:10-p.m.

As her 2005 Subaru Forester SUV topped the hill, Charles took evasive action to avoid an oncoming truck. Her vehicle went out of control and entered the north ditch before rolling over. The SUV sustained an estimated $2,000 damage.

And, a woman from Greene County was cited following an investigation into a collision late Wednesday morning, in Guthrie Center. The Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened on State Street, near the Public Health Office.

Authorities say a 2024 Chevy Equinox (SUV) driven by 79-year-old Ruth Spaulding, of Jefferson, was traveling east on State Street at around 11:35-a.m., and was turning into the Public Health parking lot, when she SUV hit the driver’s side of a 2017 Chevy Traverse (SUV), driven by 59-year-old Melissa Johnson, of Panora, that was also traveling eastbound on State Street (in the right-hand lane). Spaulding told deputies she didn’t see the Chevy before initiating the turn. No injuries were reported.

Damage from the collision amounted to $12,000. Spaulding was cited for Unsafe Turning.
