(Radio Iowa) – Governor Kim Reynolds is not expecting anyone in key leadership roles in her administration to leave before her term ends in January.
Reynolds says there’s an opening on the board that governs the three state universities that she intends to fill soon and she appointed a new administrator for the Iowa Lottery on Monday. Stephen Waymire is a retired Des Moines Policeman who has been the Lottery’s Vice President of Security since 2022.
Reynolds recently appointed the director of the Iowa Department of Management to serve as Director of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, too. The move came after Republicans did not have any support from Democrats in the Senate to confirm Larry Johnson to lead the Health and Human Services Department. Reynolds has kept Johnson in a leadership role, though, with the title of Principal Deputy Director of the agency. Johnson has served 15 years in state government, including a stint as the governor’s legal counsel and director of the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing.
