(Des Moines, IA) – The U-S Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa reports a Dallas County man, was sentenced July 16th to spend 173 months (slightly more than 14-years) in federal prison, for possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and for possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. 34-year-old Gideon Lee Corbett, of Redfield will be required to serve a four-year term of supervised release after competing his prison sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.
According to public court documents, Corbett was encountered by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in August, 2025. Inside the vehicle Corbett was driving, law enforcement found nearly 40 grams of meth and a loaded/chambered pistol. Corbett was already on parole for 2021 convictions from the Iowa District Court for Guthrie County, during which he also possessed meth and a load firearm.
Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante commended the work of the Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) for their efforts in arresting and thoroughly investigating Gideon Corbett. Infante said “Their work resulted in a convicted felon being held accountable, while removing methamphetamine and a stolen firearm from our community.”
The case against Corbett was investigated by the Mid-Iowan Narcotics Enforcement Task Force and the Dallas and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Offices. The case was prosecuted by the U-S Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
