Red Oak woman injured during a collision Tuesday evening

(Red Oak, IA) – One person was injured during a collision that took place Tuesday evening, in Red Oak. According to the Red Oak Police Department, 75-year-old Toni Rae Kesterson, of Red Oak, suffered suspected minor/non-incapacitating injuries when the SUV she was driving was struck broadside by another SUV, that was driven by a 16-year-old female from Red Oak. Kesterson had be to extricated from her 2020 Hyundai Sante Fe, before she was transported to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue.

Authorities say the accident happened at around 6:30-p.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of Boundary and Valley Streets. Kesterson’s vehicle was traveling westbound on Valley Street, when the driver of a 2017 Subaru Outback traveling northbound on Boundary Street, failed to yield at the stop sign

The teen wasn’t injured. She was cited though, for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield the Right-Of-Way. Damage from the collision amounted to $14,000 altogether.
