NW Iowa floor scrubbing business damaged by fire Wed. afternoon

(Cherokee, IA) – Multiple firefighting crews responded Wednesday afternoon to the scene of a commercial business structure fire in Cherokee. The incident at a building in the 200 block of E. Main Street in Cherokee, was reported at around 1:15-p.m. The fire was reported by a passerby.

Arriving firefighters found the fire was at a commercial floor scrubbing business. The flames were brought under control, and by 2:30 p.m., no smoke or flames could be seen coming from the building. No one was inside the building when the fire started.

The fire remains under investigation by the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office and is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time. Estimated fire loss is approximately $1.2 million.

No injuries were reported at the fire. Two firefighters were evaluated by CRMC Ambulance for heat-related concerns.
