(Onawa, IA) – A jury in Monona County took just two days to find a woman from Whiting guilty, in the stabbing death of her boyfriend. 47-year-old Veronica Kluge faces a 50-year jail sentence in connection with the death on March 15, 2025,of 50-year-old Justin Luth. Her sentencing date has not yet been set.
Kluge was found guilty of Second-Degree Murder, Wednesday. She was originally charged with 1st Degree Murder. If she had been convicted on that charge, Kluge would have faced a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. Deliberations in her case began Tuesday, March 17th, following the trial that began earlier this month.
The stabbing of Justin Luth took place at a rural Monona County home he and Klug shared. The woman claimed Luth attacked her, and that the stabbing was in self defense. Luth died from a single stab wound. Authorities have stated the physical evidence in the case did not support the self defense claim.
