Nighttime Lane and Ramp Closures on I-80 in Council Bluffs Begin April 13

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – April 3, 2026 – The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Council Bluffs construction office reports a project to paint grooved pavement markings on Interstate 80 in the Council Bluffs area will require lane and ramp closures beginning on Monday, April 13, weather permitting. Closures will take place on the following nights and locations in Council Bluffs:

Monday, April 13

  • 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a single left-lane closure will occur on eastbound I-80 from the East System Interchange to Franklin Avenue.
  • 9 p.m. Monday, April 13 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, a double left-lane closure on eastbound I-80 from the East System Interchange to Franklin Avenue.

Tuesday, April 14

  • 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 to 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, a single right-lane closure on eastbound I-80 from the East System Interchange to Franklin Avenue.
  • 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 to 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, full closure of the northbound I-29 ramp to eastbound I-80 in the East System Interchange.
  • 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 to 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, full closure on eastbound I-80 local lanes in the East System Interchange.
  • 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, full closure of the eastbound I-80 exit ramp to Madison Avenue.
  • 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, full closure of the eastbound I-80 entrance ramp from Madison Avenue.

Wednesday, April 15

  • 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 to 7 a.m. Thursday, April 16, double left-lane closure on westbound I-80 from Franklin Avenue to East System Interchange.

Thursday, April 16

  • 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16 to 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, single right-lane closure on westbound I-80 from Franklin Avenue to East System Interchange.
  • 9 p.m. Thursday, April 16 to 5 a.m. Friday, April 17, full closure of westbound I-80 exit ramp to Madison Avenue.
  • 9 p.m. Thursday, April 16 to 5 a.m. Friday, April 17, full closure of westbound I-80 entrance ramp from Madison Avenue.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
