Nebraska man arrested in a Council Bluffs cutting incident

(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Council Bluffs Police Department reports a man from Nebraska was arrested Wednesday in connection with a cutting incident. Authorities say just before 5-a.m. Wednesday (April 22nd), Council Bluffs Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to 802 Avenue B for a report of a cutting.

The victims, 53-year-old Gary G. Townsend, of Omaha, was located and transported by medics to a local Council Bluffs hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed that the suspect, 27-year-old Moses S. Brown, of Grand Island, NE, was inside of the residence and fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. An arrest warrant charging Brown with Attempt to Commit Murder was subsequently obtained by detectives.

At approximately 4:00 pm, members of the Fremont, NE Police Department located Brown in Fremont and took him into custody without incident. Brown was held at the Dodge County, NE, Jail on a Parole Violation warrant from Nebraska and the Attempt to Commit Murder warrant from Pottawattamie County, IA.

The public is reminded that charges are not evidence against the defendant and the defendant is
presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law
