(Holt County, MO.) – A collision between a motorcycle and a deer Tuesday morning in northwest Missouri, left two people dead, including a man from Taylor County (IA). The Missouri Highway Patrol said a 2007 Victory motorcycle operated by a 43-year-old man from Bedford (IA) was traveling north on Interstate 29 at around 6:45-a.m., Tuesday, when the man tried to avoid a deer on the road. When he braked, the cycle began to skid and struck the deer.
When the motorcycle overturned onto its left side, both the driver and his 45-year-old female passenger, from Lincoln, NE, were ejected and died at the scene. The cycle came to rest in the gore of the northbound 75 exit ramp off I-29. The accident happened about 2.5-miles north of Oregon, Missouri.
The next of kin were notified. The Missouri State Patrol typically does not release names associated with accidents. The MSP was assisted at the scene by the Holt County, MO., Sheriff’s Office, Oregon (MO.) Police Department, and the South Holt Fire Dept.
