National Police Memorial Week observance to take place in Clarinda

The President of the United States and the United States Congress have declared the week of May 11-17, 2026, as National Police Officers’ Memorial Week. Clarinda Police Chief Keith Brothers says in observance of the Memorial Week, the Clarinda Police Department will conduct a memorial service at the Clarinda Cemetery Tom of the Unknown Soldier, beginning at 2-p.m., on Wednesday, May 13th (2026).

The service will serve to pay tribute to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. 111 officers died in the line of duty last year (2025). American Legion Sergy Post 98 will provide a three-volley salute and the playing of TAPS.

The members of the Clarinda Police Department cordially invite the public to attend the memorial service and pay tribute to those law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be cancelled.
