(Red Oak, IA) – The annual run of the Montgomery County Fair begins Monday, in Red Oak. The fair runs July 13th through the 19th. [UPDATE:] Pre-Fair activities begin SUNDAY morning with the Shooting Sports Competition check-in and action at the Anderson Conservation Shooting Range. Fair set-up continues Sunday afternoon, and includes a Pre-Fair Supper hosted by the Montgomery County Fair Board & Red Oak Ambassadors, at the Gold Fair Building. There’s also a 4-H/FFA & Clover Kid Pool Party Sunday evening at the Red Oak Swimming Pool.
As with any county fair, there’s usually a great selection of food to enjoy during the week-long run. Montgomery County Extension Director Sadie Lindgren says that’s definitely the case at their fair.
There’s always fresh-squeezed lemonade to help you cool-off during the expected hot days this coming week. Sadie says their livestock entries are up this year. Monday features a 4-H/FFA Horse Show to get things started. The static exhibits are also ready to go.
Monday afternoon features Wardrobe Clothing Judging and Table Setting Display & Judging. Extemporaneous speaking and Working Exhibits are featured beginning at 5-p.m. Those events along with the Fashion Show and Share the Fun Awards, will be held in the Red Oak High School Auditorium. Lindgren says there aren’t a lot of changes to this year’s programs at the Montgomery County Fair.
There’s no shortage of entertainment during this year’s Montgomery County Fair.
Friday night features a free to view Bull Riding event, and there’s a demolition derby Saturday night. Sunday’s activities are capped-off with a Livestock Auction beginning at 2:15-p.m. For more information on the 2026 Montgomery County Fair, go to https://montgomerycountyiafair.com/.
