Miller-Meeks says she doesn’t support sending group troops into Iran

(Radio Iowa) – Iowa Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks says she does not support sending ground troops into Iran, but she says the barrage of air strikes over the last several weeks have been appropriate. “I think the actions to prevent Iran, which was very close to having a nuclear weapon, given the rhetoric and emphatic conversations of seven presidents and the international community that Iran could not have a nuclear armed weapon, that these actions were appropriate at this point in time,” Miller-Meeks says.

Miller-Meeks says she’d appreciate more information from the administration on how it plans to end the conflict. Miller-Meeks made her comments last (Thursday) night during a viral town hall. When the war began, MIller-Meeks said her immediate focus was on the safety of U.S. service members and Americans in the region.

She also cited Iran’s sponsorship of terrorist groups like Hamas and threats to obliterate the U.S. and kill President Trump as valid reasons for the president’s decision to authorize the bombing campaign.
