(Johnston, IA) – The Iowa Gold Star Military Museum will host the USS Iowa (SSN-797) Crew Members on
Tuesday, August 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum on the Camp Dodge Joint Maneuver Training Center, 7105 NW 70th Ave., in Johnston.
The USS Iowa Crew is planning a five day stop in the Des Moines and Marshalltown areas to meet Iowans and Iowa Veterans. The Museum will host a Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 18th at 2 p.m. followed by an Open Forum at 2:30 p.m.
Learn about life on a submarine and discover the fascinating history of the USS Iowa (SSN-797). The Crew will enjoy a curator-led tour of the museum afterwards. There will also will be light refreshments available to attendees on a first come first serve basis.
Visitors can enter Camp Dodge through the main gate at 7100 NW 70th Ave. Photo identification is required for admittance to Camp Dodge for individuals 16 years and older.
Note: ALL motorcyclist (drivers and passengers) on Camp Dodge are required to wear personal protective equipment consisting of a helmet, eye protection, gloves, long pants, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and over-the-ankle footwear while traveling on Camp Dodge. Motorcyclists without the required equipment may park their motorcycles at the NW Beaver Drive gate turnaround and walk to the museum (approximately three blocks).
