(Atlantic, IA) – A former Atlantic School District employee facing sexual exploitation and grooming charges will stand trial in late September. Court records show the trial for 34-year-old Jesse Eugene McCann, of Greenfield, will take place at 9:30-a.m. on Sept. 29th. McCann will be arraigned on the charges July 27th. His pre-trial conference is set for August 31st.
As previously reported, the Atlantic Police Department said McCann had turned himself in on charges last month, after police received a report on January 19, 2026 alleging he had engaged in inappropriate contact, communication, and interactions with a female student.
Separately, McCann faces charge of sexual exploitation by a school employee associated with his alleged conduct with a juvenile student about 10-years ago while he was employed by the West Central Valley School District. The charge was filed by the Stuart Police Department, in May. McCann’s pre-trial conference on the charge was is to occur at 9:30-a.m. on July 13th.
