(Council Bluffs, IA) – A man was struck and killed by a train Saturday afternoon, in Council Bluffs. According to the Police report, the man – who was estimated to be 20- to 22-years of age – died at the scene, located at Avenue B and N. 11th, at around 4:01-p.m. His name was being withheld pending notification of family.
Authorities say Council Bluffs Police officers and fire department personnel responded to the incident on the Union Pacific Railroad Main Line, in the area of S. 11th and Avenue B, and found the victim deceased. Train traffic was halted for several hours, which blocked numerous roadways from 5th Ave thru Ave G. Train traffic was resumed around 8:30 PM.
