A reported shooting in Stuart Tuesday afternoon has left one woman dead and an Iowa State Patrol Trooper injured.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation reports that local Police and officers from many agencies responded to the 200 block of Southwest 6th Street at about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. DCI Special Agent in Charge Adam DeCamp told reporters that officers from both the Adair and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Offices joined the Iowa State Patrol to answer the call. He said the trooper was the one of the first to arrive and found an adult male with a gun. Troopers were able to control the man after the trooper was shot.
The trooper was taken to a Des Moines hospital. DeCamp said a woman was found dead at the scene and her death is being treated as a homicide.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting local authorities in the investigation.
