(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Council Bluffs Police Department, this (Friday) morning, released the name of a person who died when their vehicle crashed off of Interstate 29, Thursday evening. Authorities say the driver of the vehicle was identified as 39-year-old Alex Foster, Jr., of Omaha.
The crash occurred at around 1:37-p.m. Thursday, on Interstate 29 at mile marker 45. Authorities say Council Bluffs Police and Fire were dispatched to the scene, where a vehicle was reported to be in Pony Creek, between the north- and southbound bridges of I-29.
An initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling northbound, crossed into the southbound lanes, struck a bridge abutment, and ended-up in the creek below. Police say Foster died at the scene. Authorities say evidence suggests that speed was a factor in the accident, and that no other vehicles were involved.
The case remains under investigation.
