The University of Iowa plans to ask state lawmakers for money to fund part of a nursing simulation training facility. U-I vice president Rod Lehnertz (Lenn-ertz) says it would replace the undersized, outdated, and shared space for nursing at the U-I hospital.
He says it would expand the number of students in the College of Nursing.
Lehnertz says it would address a shortage of nurses that is not unique to the state.
Lehnertz says they are asking the state to fund half of the estimated 51 million dollar cost of the building. He says if approved it would take around 18 months to plan and construction would start at the end of 2028 or in 2029.
