SW Iowa town of Malvern hosts open-stage country music jam festival

Fans of live country music in all its forms should head to southwest Iowa this weekend for what’s known as the Malvern Country Music Gathering. Organizer Fred Larson says musicians and music lovers from across the region have taken part in the annual fall tradition in the Mills County town since 1999, sharing their talents and their tunes. The event starts with a potluck dinner on Friday at 5 P-M and the music starts at 7.

There are two private jam rooms, one for acoustic, one for electric, and then the main stage where the majority of folks gather to listen.

The various venues are in the Liberty Memorial Building in Malvern. Saturday’s activities start at 10 A-M with another open-stage jam show that continues throughout the day and into the night. Admission is just $3 on Friday, $4 on Saturday, and Larson says all proceeds benefit the Liberty Building Fund.
