On Tuesday Republican Steve Baier, beat his opponent Democrat James Uhlenkamp by a vote total of 16,127 to 7,778. Baier reflected on his past positions in the county specifically his 11 years with the Griswold school board and what he and the school board did to give back to the community.
Baier says he plans on using his past 10 years of experiences from being the county supervisor to help bring ideas and problems he helped bring to life and face in his community to the state level in hopes to make more problems and their solutions more well known on the state level.
Baier says things will be difficult, but he says he is willing to listen and work with people as well as share his thoughts and ideas to get to where the state needs to go when it comes to working things out in the state senate.
Baier credited his win to his experience and support from long time supporters, his experience and support allowed him to carry all of the counties.
With Iowa’s state government changing Baier says “We’re gonna have to find some common ground.”
