(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Council Bluffs Police Department is investigating a fatal, single-vehicle accident that occurred at around 1:37-p.m. Thursday (today) on Interstate 29 at mile marker 45. Authorities say Council Bluffs Police and Fire were dispatched to the scene, where a vehicle was reported to be in Pony Creek, between the north- and southbound bridges of I-29.
An initial investigation indicates the vehicle as traveling northbound, crossed into the southbound lanes, struck a bridge abutment, and ended-up in the creek below. The sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, died at the scene.
The crash remained under investigation by the Council Bluffs P-D Traffic Unit. The name of the crash victims was not immediately released, pending notification of family.
