Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate met with the media today (Wednesday) to talk about the preparations for the General Election voting next Tuesday.
Pate is the state’s top election official and says there’s a lot of work that happens before they roll out the voting machines.
Pate says there are many safeguards to protect your vote.
Pate says there are ongoing challenges with misinformation, disinformation and malinformation, and he says Secretaries of State across the country are prepared for coordinated misinformation campaigns from bad actors and foreign adversaries such as Iran and Russia.
Pate says federal Justice Department monitors are expected at some Iowa polling locations during the election.
