Greenfield Municipal Utilities issued a social media post to ask residents to conserve water Wednesday.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 9th, GMU began experiencing issues at the Water Treatment Plant.
They stated that, at this time, they are working to communicate with the appropriate entities and vendors to try to identify & correct the issue.
They are asking all customers to begin water conservation measures immediately. The water in the system is perfectly safe to consume but without a remedy, They say that the system will likely run out of treated water to send to town at some point today. They hope that they will not reach that critical point, but say they do feel it is important to share the possibility with customers as they ask for immediate water conservation.
They will update GMU’s Facebook and website as often as needed throughout the day. Unfortunately, the office is unoccupied today so please do not call for an update as there will be no one to answer the phone.

Also, due to the water issue, the Nodaway Valley Schools are closed today.
