The community of Walnut will soon have more options for child care. The Play Haven Child Care Center project broke ground in September and is expected to be completed in December.
Lydia Holtz is part of the Play Haven committee. She says the need was obvious.
Holtz says cost was an issue and the committee looked at several options before collaborating with another local facility.

Holtz says they worked with the Peace Haven Retirement Home to make this opportunity happen.
Holtz says they were fortunate to find a funding partner to begin the project.

Holtz says the center website has plenty of information and they are currently accepting applications. The center is expected to serve up to 60 children and Holtz says they hope to be opening soon.
Holtz says Haven Baker was hired as the executive director for the new center and she has been preparing for the opening of the more than one-million-dollar facility.
